Lorraine is one of France’s 27 regions and has two cities of equal importance – Metz and Nancy. The regional parliament is situated in Metz, leading the city to be regarded as Lorraine’s official capital. It is the only French region to have borders with three other countries – Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. Stay in the Premiere Classe Nancy Est Hotel as the perfect starting point for exploring the region.
The famous Quiche Lorraine originates from the region, along with the Breux potato and Pate Lorrain. Lorraine is also popular for its variety of beer and wine, so visiting the region is guaranteed to be a culinary experience ! Despite bordering on three different countries, Lorraine has a clear French identity and modern French is spoken throughout. However, in northern parts of Lorraine, local Franconian dialects still survive.
